Skin Rejuvenation

Hydrafacial MD uses advanced medical technology to achieve a long lasting, refreshed appearance. Each treatment creates a vortex like effect using a series of special tips with multiple abrasive edges. The tips used have a unique spiral design to help dislodge and remove impurities while simultaneously introducing antioxidants back into the skin.

This is a unique procedure that combines the benefits of three treatments into one. First the skin is cleansed and exfoliated. Then a light chemical peel is applied to enhance rejuvenation. Any blemishes or imperfections are extracted from the skin and then antioxidants are applied to help nourish and protect the skin. The treatment takes about half an hour.

This procedure is used to treat acne and associated scarring, large pores, sun damage, Rosacea, pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, and to improve tone, texture and general skin health. To gain optimal results of Hydrafacial MD treatments are recommended monthly. It is very important to use the correct skin care products between treatments to ensure the best results.

Microdermabrasion is a treatment using fine crystals sprayed onto the skin to remove the upper dead skin layer and increase blood flow. It is a pleasant way to rejuvenate the skin, treat pigmentation and to treat all grades of acne and acne scarring. It is a safe alternative to traditional dermabrasion. It is not as aggressive as laser treatment and requires no down time for healing.

This procedure is done using a pen-shaped device to apply a fine spray of micro-crystals onto the skin surface while simultaneously using vacuum suction to remove any excess crystals and skin debris. This results in a stimulation of the blood circulation to the area being treated, leaving the skin slightly pink and much smoother. This procedure is designed to improve skin texture, reduce pore size, encourage new cell growth and also helps to minimise scar tissue and acne. Most patients are able to resume their normal activities after their treatment.

Each treatment usually takes half an hour. Even after just one treatment, the skin feels smoother and continues to improve over the next few days. Acne tends to improve after the first couple of sessions, and occasionally appears to flare as more deep-seated comedomes come to the surface before dissipating and improving in texture and tone. Acne scarring, texture and tone of the skin will improve with each treatment.

These treatments can be combined with a series of LED red and blue light treatments, or alternated with either a Chemical Peels or Photorejuvenation to help maximise the effect and leave skin healthy and glowing.

The doctor will advise you during your consultation as to how many treatments you may need.

The function of a Chemical Peel is to create an even controlled shedding of several layers of damaged skin cells. The peeled skin is then replaced by new skin, which grows out from the depths of the hair follicles. This new skin, having been protected from exposure to the sun, is fresher and has a more even colouring and a smoother texture. Depending on the depth of the peeling it can remove freckles, brown blotches, scaly sunspots, age spots and wrinkles and can help stimulate collagen regeneration.

The peel solution is painted onto the face in layers and the peel will be timed according to the skin’s response and then neutralised or stopped. Depending on the type of peel you will feel some stinging or burning for a short time. The face will initially feel tight and may look pink for a short period of time. There is usually no discomfort once the peel is finished. Usually there is no anaesthetic required and in most cases there is no time required away from work.

Between days 3 to 5 after your treatment, peeling will commence, the amount of peeling varying according to the type and depth of the initial peel. The degree of peeling does not necessarily correlate with the ultimate results, so that even if you have minimal or no peeling, you will still see benefits.

At your consultation your doctor will advise you on the appropriate preparation of the skin prior to and after the peel. In all cases it is best to reduce sun exposure and tanning before and after the peel.

You should not have the peel if you have active cold sores and should stop any glycolic or AHA products or topical Vitamin A products 5 days prior to the peel. You should not have the peel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You should not start using AHA or topical retinoids until at least a week after the peel and you should not have used Roaccutane within 6 months of the peel.

Chemical peels also work well in conjunction with Microdermabrasion, Photorejuvenation, Hydrafacial and other cosmetic medical treatments.
