Moxi treatments are quick – usually 15-30 minutes per session (excluding numbing time) – and visible improvements can appear as soon as a week. Though a series of 3–4 sessions, spaced 3–6 weeks apart, often yields the best results.
“Moxi is also appropriate for all skin types, including darker Fitzpatrick skin tones,” notes Dr Austin. “It’s especially well-suited for conditions such as melasma that can be aggravated by more aggressive treatments.”
Head-to-Head: BBL and Moxi
You’ve undoubtedly heard about BBL. It’s a form of advanced light-based skin therapy using broad-spectrum light rather than laser pulses. It’s particularly effective at targeting pigmentation (for example, sunspots and age spots), redness, broken capillaries, rosacea, and vascular irregularities.
BBL works well for pigment and vascular concerns but may be less ideal for melasma or darker skin types where hypo/hyper pigmentation risk can be a concern. Results can be seen within 2-3 weeks. Pigmentation will initially go much darker and will gradually fade during this time. Most people benefit from 2–4 sessions, spaced 3-4 weeks apart, for longer-lasting improvements. There’s usually minimal to no downtime.

Is Moxi Better than BBL?
This is an important question. Better is what works best for you to help you achieve your skincare goals.
- For texture, fine lines, early ageing, melasma, or maintenance (“prejuvenation”): Moxi is often the preferred choice due to its collagen stimulation and gentler impact.
- For pigmentation, sun damage, redness, and vascular issues: BBL shines – especially when you want quick, visible clarity and tone improvement.
- Best of both worlds? Many experts recommend stacking Moxi and BBL treatments in the same appointment (sometimes branded as “BBL Moxi”), to target both deep rejuvenation and surface concerns in one plan.
