Insider Explains Why BBL Is The Bomb

by | Oct 12, 2018

“I’ve seen it with my own eyes.” It’s what you say when others are sceptical about whether something is as good as it seems. Michelle, our guru of CoolTech fat reduction, recently had a “seen it with my own eyes” moment of her own when she underwent BBL (Broad Band Light) Therapy here at Austin Clinic. Did it work for her? See it with your own eyes:

Michelle’s Skin Rejuvenation Journey Started at Austin Clinic

In Australia, skin colour irregularities such as hyper-pigmentation are common among men and women, including Michelle. Our sun-loving lifestyle puts us at risk for blotchy skin covered in dark and light patches. Simple ageing adds to the problem, as do genetics and our exposure to the elements, man-made and otherwise.

The first step Michelle took was to have her skin properly diagnosed. You see, there are three different types of skin pigmentation problems:

  • Actinic lentigines (sun spots) – caused by exposure to UV rays
  • Melasma – caused by hormonal changes
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation – caused by acne, rashes, and burns

7 Skin Problems BBL Therapy Can Beat

Only a qualified skin specialist has the training and experience to diagnosis skin problems and, just as importantly, to design an effective treatment program for:

  • Signs of ageing
  • Sun damage
  • Birthmarks
  • Unwanted hair
  • Unsightly small veins
  • Blemishes
  • Acne scars

The Hero of Michelle’s Story

Austin Clinic’s Sciton Broadband Light machine is a knight in shining armour (literally) when it comes to rejuvenating skin. Tested and proven effective, this powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) device is helping skin specialists set new standards in treatment around the world. It gives the professionals at Austin Clinic the flexibility to correct multiple skin conditions with treatments that can be customised with various wavelengths and smart filters to address:

  • Acne
  • Deep lesions
  • Pigmented lesions (age spots, freckles)
  • Vascular lesions (rosacea)

A new module uses infrared light energy to stimulate collagen production for skin firming. (Is there anything it can’t do?!)

Michelle in the Chair

As a member of our staff, Michelle knew what to expect during her BBL treatment with our Sciton laser. The “magic” is a non-invasive medical light therapy, so she knew not to be afraid. She was confident her time in the chair would be relatively pleasant and she would be able to get back to her life without any significant downtime.

She was also confident regarding the results. A Stanford University study found that the body’s natural regulators of ageing can be “altered in human skin using BBL technology to provide a functional change, rather than just a cosmetic mimic of youthful appearance.”

Typically, the treatment area is pre-numbed with an ice pack. During treatment, a cold gel is applied to keep the skin safe. This is a no-anaesthesia treatment, further reducing patient risk. Some patients say they feel a slight pinch on the skin or a sensation of being snapped like a rubber band. The feeling is momentary and any discomfort generally fades within a short period.
