Skin Care Meet & Greet with Austin Clinic

by | Sep 7, 2018

“Getting to know you” is more than a great song lyric here at Austin Clinic. “Getting to know you” is an integral part of the success we achieve. “The one-on-one relationships that develops between patients and team members is essential to providing the highest level of care and an unsurpassed patient experience,” says our founder Dr Susan Austin.

The more we know about you as a person and a patient, the more effectively we can help you achieve your goals. We can develop customised treatment plans that are a good fit for your skin concerns and your lifestyle, too. By the same token, the more you know about us is also important.

We’re proud to introduce you to…

Michelle Makes Cooltech Even Cooler

We’re proud of Austin Clinic’s team spirit. We work together to do great things for our patients, thanks in large part to the contributions of our multi-talented doctor’s assistants. Michelle is our Cooltech fat reduction clinician, a role she’s had since she began her work at Austin Clinic four years ago.

For 2018, Michelle has added a wide range of face-saving treatments to her menu of anti-ageing services including:

  • Emerge laser
  • V2 Skin Booster
  • Microdermabrasion
  • Hydrafacial
  • PDT treatments

“I love helping patients and performing treatments that make them feel good about themselves,” says Michelle. “It’s wonderful to see them leave the clinic with a smile on their face.”

Michelle enjoys the unexpected nature of her work “I never know what my day will hold,” she explains. “It may be consultations or procedures or a combination.” A genuine team player, Michelle is always ready to lend a hand to her teammates.

Away from the office, Michelle loves to stay healthy by walking and exercising. She shares her home with Matilda the dog and Blue the cat, welcoming friends and family for coffee and conversation whenever she can.

Tracey, Our “Jill of All Trades”

Tracey assists Dr Austin with a wide range of procedures, providing a second pair of hands clinically, as well as at the front desk. A self-described “Jill of all trades,” Tracey’s days are devoted to facial rejuvenation and

  • Microdermabrasion
  • Hydrafacials
  • Emerge laser treatments
  • V2 Skin Booster

Tracey is one of Austin Clinic’s most senior practitioners. She joined the clinic over 15 years ago. “We are like family,” she says of colleagues and patients alike. “I love working with an amazing and happy staff and helping lovely people who we have come to know over many years, including their families.”

In her free time, Tracey enjoys reading, walking, and catching up with friends and family…”not all at the same time,” she laughs.

Lesley, at Home at Austin for 15 Years

Lesley is our clinical assistant. A long-timer, like Tracey, she has been at the Austin Clinic for 15 years. “When I started it was just me and Dr Austin,” she recalls. “I job-shared with Tracey. We had a cordless phone, an appointment book, pencil and eraser. The only treatment we performed in those days was Microdermabrasion and it is still one of the most effective ways to achieve a clear skin.”

Times have changed! Today, multi-skilled Lesley is often called upon to help Dr Austin with:

  • Leg vein treatment
  • Pigmentation correction
  • Facial vein treatment
  • Radio-surgical procedures (for skin lesions)

Lesley also provides important support during Austin Clinic’s popular Photodynamic Therapy procedure. “Our patients see Dr Austin for the application of the ALA solution and I cover it up and make sure they know when to return for the second part of the treatment,” explains Lesley. “I keep an eye on them to make sure they’re ok. I make sure I check on them following treatment and to answer any questions they may have.”

When she’s not at Dr Austin’s side, Lesley performs treatments including

“I love my yoga and walking around this beautiful area we are all so lucky to live in,” says Lesley of her non-work hours. “I love catching up with my children. They have lovely partners and so far I only have grand-animals which are a delight.”
